Self Care
What does self care mean to you?
During our self-care workshop we talked about the many ways that parents, or caregivers, do so much to make sure that our children and family are well taken care of. When the question of, “what do you do to take good care of you?” comes, we sometimes struggle to answer that. To encourage us to think deeply of everything we do, we reflected on the following quote:
These words summarize the battle that caregivers face as we juggle multiple responsibilities including raising children, working, and managing life’s daily challenges.
One family mentioned how we have to learn to be “tender” to ourselves through the standing, the fighting and the trying.
In an attempt to practice being tender to ourselves, we encouraged each participant to write a personal kind letter including:
What superpowers are within you?
What kinds of things you will do for yourself to promote your self-care?
We encourage YOU to do the same.
Everything we do at First Teacher is always geared towards community building and kindergarten and world readiness. Self-care is an important tool not only to support our wellbeing but also the success of our children’s future.
